Few Simple Tips For Increasing Your PC’s Performance

Few Simple Tips For Increasing Your PC’s Performance

Few days ago we wrote about Windows freezing and gave you some tips about what to do when it happens. Now we would like to tell you something about preventing your operating system from doing this again.

Problems like computer freezing or crashing mostly happen because of poor system maintenance. This means that they can be prevented relatively easy.

Easiest thing you can do is to simply close the applications you don’t need working at the moment. A lot of programs that run at the same time affect the performance and can cause problems.

Good thing to do is to delete the programs you don’t use. Some of them can be running in the background and taking up the memory without you knowing. Just open Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and delete the programs you no longer need. You may find programs you installed long time ago and forgotten about.

Beside deleting programs you could also delete files you don’t need like pictures or video clips.

One thing that can cause computer problems are viruses. If you didn’t perform virus scan in a long time it would be good to do it.

When you open Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools (on Windows 7) you will see two cool easy to use programs: Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter. First will enable you to delete unnecessary files. Second will consolidate fragmented files to increase performance.

If you have an older PC one thing you could try is to dust it out. Just open the case and carefully vacuum the dust. Most important thing is to remove the dust from heat sync and fans. If these parts are choking in dust your computer could heat up excessively.

If none of this helps you should think about upgrading your computer. Adding more RAM could be helpful, but in a long term it’s best to buy a new PC.
